Case Study: Sunny Delight

Challenge

When private equity firm J.W. Childs Associates purchased Sunny Delight Beverages from Procter & Gamble, they were faced with numerous challenges. Sunny Delight was integrated into the rest of Procter & Gamble through SAP financial, supply chain, manufacturing and production applications. As a result, the company’s infrastructure, from financial planning software to billing and invoicing to production forecasting and planning, had to be recreated. This was compounded by the fact that this all had to be accomplished in a very short period of time.

Solution

Triplefin provided the critical link between a number of other technology partners, the company, its retail trading partners and consumers, and was able to successfully meet the company’s stringent deadlines.

Triplefin developed a sophisticated order management system that processes EDI product orders from Sunny Delight’s retail trading partners. The system intelligently checks each order for accuracy prior to acceptance, and also interfaces with numerous information technology vendors and the company’s manufacturing plants to capture critical business information, enabling the company to forecast and plan.

Triplefin rounded out the company’s infrastructure by providing dedicated program management, critical customer-facing functions such as customer service for trading partners as well as toll-free and e-mail support for consumer inquiries. Triplefin’s Contact Center seamlessly represents Sunny Delight to all of its customers, utilizing an online product knowledge database that was customized to include answers to commonly asked questions and adverse effect handling requirements. All inquiries are documented within the database to provide Sunny Delight with a comprehensive overview of its consumers needs. Triplefin assists with special fulfillment projects, including the distribution of product samples. Triplefin also provides the company with comprehensive real-time reports that give Sunny Delight complete, real-time visibility into the performance of its brand, and provides comprehensive financial management services that include invoicing and trade deduction management.

Results

Triplefin’s services have enabled Sunny Delight to focus on its core competencies of manufacturing and product innovation, including the launch multiple new product flavors, and an additional product line called Elations. Triplefin is also in the process of implementing several services to support their recent acquisition of Fruit20 and Veryfine from Kraft Foods.
